Description
Non-Skid™ waxes are micronized polypropylenes that are manufactured using special equipment to provide a unique texturizing
agent. The particle size is carefully controlled to produce a uniform textured surface in paints and coatings.
Non-Skid™ will also impart a smoother "feel" than other types of texturizing agents due to its rounded, almost
spherical shape. The particle size is controlled using screens.
Advantages
The physical properties of polypropylene make Non-Skid™ ideally suited as a texturizing agent. The low density and
insolubility characteristics of Non-Skid™ will reduce or eliminate settling and provide optimum performance in aromatic systems. The high
melting point of Non-Skid™ will ensure a consistent texture even a high baking temperatures.
The rounded shape of Non-Skid™ will provide optimum abrasion resistance, gloss control and will be less abrasive when compared
to silica texturizing agents.
Uses
Non-Skid™ is recommended for use in industrial paints, lacquers and coatings (e.g. wood, metal, powder or spray). The level of
addition depends on the degree of texture desired.
Add 5-10% by weight, based upon resin solids of Non-Skid™ for a moderate textured finish. Since Non-Skid™ can be
dispersed into all types of paint and coatings using a high speed mixer, the need for pre-dispersion is eliminated.
